The American Youth Horse Council (AYHC) invites proposals to speak at the 43rd Annual AYHC Symposium, March 6-8, 2020 in Gainesville, FL. This event presents an opportunity for adult and student leaders in the youth horse industry to come together to learn, network, share ideas and grow as an industry. The event will include tours of Florida’s horse industry, live demonstrations, and workshops focused on youth and horses.
Proposals must be submitted electronically by email no later than October 15, 2019. Complete guidelines and form are available at AYHC.com. Speakers are responsible for their own registration fees, travel, lodging and other expenses.
Three audiences will be represented:
· Adult Leaders— those who work directly with youth either as staff or volunteers to teach, coach, train or mentor youth involved with horses
· Youth Industry Professionals—those employed in the youth horse industry (such as Extension Specialists and breed association youth program coordinators) who manage youth equine programs
· Teen Leaders— (age 14-18) those who serve in a leadership capacity or are already involved in teaching younger youth participants
The non-breed / non-discipline specific curriculum throughout the symposium offers equine knowledge that transfers from the book to the barn, providing take-home tools to teach youth about safe and effective horsemanship. Above all, the Symposium connects participants with resources, referrals, and networking to help kids connect through horses. Workshops may be presented in a variety of formats including discussion, forum, panel, or hands on activity. Preference will be given to interactive workshops.
